Growing Cut Flowers - SATURDAY 22 SEPTEMBER 10.30-2.30 P.M. - PLACES AVAILABLE

British flowers are experiencing a huge resurgence in popularity and this workshop is designed for those who wish to start growing their own or those with a little more experience who wish to explore different varieties and learn more.  Whether it is cut flowers for your home or making bouquets to give to friends, it is possible to grow more flowers than you might imagine in a small space. We will spend the morning outside, talking about how to get started, which seeds to plant, perennials and shrubs, ensuring a supply of flowers all summer, compost, soil types, space and the tools required.  There will be a short practical session and you will plant seeds of your own choice to take away and grow on at home.  Following a short break for a light and tasty lunch, there will be a demonstration of a hand tied arrangement suitable for a vase or wrapping as a bouquet so that you will know what to do with your flowers once they have grown.

£50 includes light lunch, notes and seeds to take away.

HAND TIED ARRANGEMENT – Tuesday 18 September 10.00-1.00 p.m. fully booked

Learn how to tie a bouquet of flowers for a DIY wedding or to style your own flowers to give to friends or make an autumn arrangement in a container of your choice.

As we progress towards the end of our flower season, the field will still lots of colour and interest so what better than to be handed a pair of scissors and a bucket and be told to go and cut yourself some flowers? We will be using the best of the autumn flowers and foliages, including grasses and seedheads.  We will talk about the importance of cutting and conditioning your flowers before arranging, content of a bouquet or arrangement  followed the opportunity for you to make your own to take away. Small groups to ensure individual attention.
